INFORMING, INSPIRING, INVOLVING ALL IN THE LIFE OF CHRIST
The Big Sandy and Western Chapel United Methodist Churches invite you to join them in their services of worship and serving their respective communities. Western Chapel worships at 9:30 and Big Sandy Worships at 11. Following the guidelines of the CDC and Annual Conference, those who are two weeks out from their second Covid19 vaccination are not required to wear masks. Others are asked to wear a mask in our services.
The Big Sandy United Methodist Church was founded in 1837 and the Western Chapel United Methodist Church was founded in 1888. Both congregations view their histories of service as sure foundations to serve both today and in our tommorrows.
Rev. Michael Bailey retired from full time United Methodist Ministry on July 1st, 2020. His wife is Lauralee Davis Bailey and they reside at Lake Junaluska, NC. Rev. Bailey has four decades of experience in the ministry and has served in a wide variety of church settings from smaller, rural churches to being lead pastor at serveral large membership churches. Rev. Bailey will be serving us through June 30 and then serve Maple Grove UMC in Waynesville. Rev. Lisa Beth White will serve Christ with our congregations beginning July 1.
We have resumed worshiping indoors and those who are fully vaccinated may worship without a mask if they wish. Those who have yet to be fully vaccinated are asked to wear a mask. For those who are more comfortable worshiping in their vehicles, the service is broadcast to the parking lot of the Big Sandy UMC and Sandy Mush Community Center at 11 a.m. each Sunday.
